Located within Bali’s iconic Subak landscape, Kinar Village is a 23-hectare organic farm dedicated to preserving traditional Balinese agriculture while offering an authentic and immersive ecotourism experience.

“In Balance, We Offer the Fruits of Our Land for Human Well-being”

Established in 2013, Kinar Village has grown into a center of education and inspiration, frequently visited by students, academics, and travellers from more than 20 countries. Guided by the Bali Organic Association Foundation and supported by an academic partnership with Udayana University, Kinar Village is not merely a farm: it is a regenerative movement for the future.

Our irrigation system adopts the traditional SUBAK, an indigenous water management system from Bali which is recognised as one of the World Heritage for water management (irrigation) by UNESCO. Founded with a vision to protect Bali’s unique terraced rice fields and empower local farmers, Kinar Village operates fully under the Indonesian National Standard for Organic Agriculture certified organic system.

Our Unique Approach: SaBiCaITaLA

We implement SaBiCaITaLA, a closed-loop farming system that integrates nature, sustainability, and tradition, making Kinar Village a self-sustaining agricultural haven.

  • 🐄 SApi

    (Cow)

The main source of fertilizer and energy. Their manure is processed into compost, vermicompost, and biogas for cooking and lighting.

  • BIogas

    🔥 BIogas

    (Biogas)

Renewable energy generated from the fermentation of cow manure—environmentally friendly and efficient, supporting the farm’s energy self-sufficiency.

  • 🪱 CAcing Tanah

    (Earthworms)
Producers of nutrient-rich vermicompost. Earthworms also have high nutritional and medicinal value and can be used as natural fish feed.

  • 🐟 Ikan

    (Fish)
A balancing component of the aquatic ecosystem and a source of liquid organic fertiliser. We raise tilapia fish in multifunctional irrigation ponds.

  • 🌾 Taman Organik

    (Organic garden)
Our main commodities: rice, citronella grass, fruits, vegetables, and flowers, which also produce feed and biomass for the agricultural cycle.

  • 🐝 Lebah Madu

    (Bees)

Natural pollinators that help increase crop yields while also producing healthy natural honey.

  • agrowisata

    🌿 Agrowisata

    (Agrotourism)
A window for education and experience for the world. Your visit helps spread the spirit of organic farming and the preservation of Bali’s Subak heritage.

THE UNIQUENESS OF KINAR VILLAGE

A Holistic Closed-Loop Organic Farming System

At Kinar Village, nothing goes to waste. Through the SaBiCaITaLA system, every by-product becomes a resource for another component—creating a zero-waste, energy-independent agricultural ecosystem that is extremely rare in modern farming.

Organic Rice with Cultural and Health Value

Our rice fields are not only free from chemicals, but also part of the sacred Subak irrigation network found only in Bali. Rice is cultivated according to the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which harmonizes relationships between humans, nature, and the divine.

From Garden to Bottle – Pure Essential Oils

Our farm is the source of premium-quality citronella essential oil, distilled on-site using traditional steam distillation methods. Each year, hundreds of liters of authentic pure oil are produced and used for aromatherapy candles, natural insect repellents, cosmetics, and many other applications.

An International Educational Destination

Learn directly from the land, where local wisdom meets modern innovation. Our educational tours are open to anyone interested in understanding sustainable, zero-waste organic farming systems.

Stunning and Meaningful Subak Landscapes

Kinar Village offers breathtaking views of terraced rice fields, harmoniously combined with coconut trees and traditional Balinese architecture. It is a visual and spiritual experience that is truly unforgettable.
